because of who He is.

Yesterday I was needing the gospel extra. Well, feeling it extra.

I texted two trusted friends,
asking for a reminder of it.

And then I hid away baking bread in my sunny kitchen for the rest of the afternoon.

I hung out in Romans and Colossians and the Book of Common Prayer at the kitchen table as the dough rose.

I listened to Indelible Grace's acoustic album on repeat and drew the lyrics out on my chalkboard.

"Jesus loves you with an everlasting love. It is his nature. He is the exact representation of God.
His nature was to love and give grace to the least of these...
some days I feel like the least of these! :-)"

"Jesus loves you because of who he is! Nothing you can ever do will earn or take away his love! Praying for you today."

"...Who dares accuse whom God has chosen for his own? No one- for God himself has given us right standing with himself...
Can anything ever separate us from Christ's love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? ...No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us... not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love."

"Almighty and eternal God, so draw our hearts to thee,
so guide our minds, so fill our imaginations, so control our wills,
that we may be wholly thine, utterly dedicated unto thee;
and then use us, we pray thee, as thou wilt,
and always to thy glory and the welfare of thy people;
through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen."

I needed to feel the gospel today. Thanks for sharing this.

Human Needs Global Resources Covenant, 2009

As fellow travelers on this journey, we commit to this covenant before God. Lord, in Your mercy, hear these our prayers:

When confronted with scarcity, need, and inadequacy, may we be nourished by the Bread of Life and the Cup of Salvation. Abundance overflows from Your table, sustaining all who come in faith. Father, help us.

When monotony blurs our vision and dulls our senses, may we encounter others as Christ did, through intentional presence in daily life, submitting as clay to be formed into vessels filled with the Spirit. Christ, guide us.

When wounded by the fractured condition of Your people, may we be united by Your Lordship in faith, hope, and love; seeing, as through the facets of a diamond, the beautiful spectrum of Your light reflected onto Your holy Church joined in praise. Spirit, empower us.

When all Creation groans, afflicted by injustice and driven to despair, may the promise of redemption root us in the hope of Your Kingdom: "Behold, I am making all things new!"

Holy Trinity, send us now into the world in peace, and grant us strength and courage to love and serve You with gladness and singleness of heart.

Amen.
